Ric McClelland & Sean Grieve’s Seven Music was launched in May 2011 and is their latest collaboration in a long and productive musical journey together. Meeting in 2001, the guys DJ’d alongside one another on the Belfast club circuit, before turning their attentions to running club nights and bringing quality acts such as Tiefschwarz, Rob Mello and Jimpster to Northern Ireland.
After concentrating on the local club circuit for many years, the guys took their first steps into music production around 2005/2006. Individually as Scope and S-Groove and collectively as South West Seven and more recently, Scope & Sydney Young.
Starting their own imprint was always on the horizon, and in early 2011 everything seemed to fall into place. On the 9th of May 2011 Seven Music launched with Sean’s first release under the moniker Sydney Young. Since then Ric and Sean have released many original tracks and remixes on the label.
The first 10 releases on the label were only available digitally. Then the first vinyl release came in January 2012 and since then Seven Music has continued to grow. Releasing physical format (12″ vinyl) aswell as digital, licensing their output to compilation CDs and launching a new sub label Seven Black.
Their mission is simple.. To release quality music free from constraints and trends!
