About

  • the Few Records started as an idea back in 2002, an idea of having an artist friendly Detroit record label that did all genres of music with an underlying thread of quality. Hence the motto of the label, "No Genres, Just Good Music." The Creation of the Few Records also was a conscientious decision to try not only to help Detroit artists, but Detroit as a whole. Michigan's brain drain doesn't end with workers like computer programmers, it affects our artists and artistic community as well. the Few is an effort to help keep our talent and money in the city and region versus seeing so many artists and friends leave the city for New York, Berlin, London and LA. Artists should be moving Here because of the amount of talented musicians. Remember, Detroit breeds champions. If you can do it here, you can do it anywhere. Fast forward to 2005. After the founder and owner went through a difficult time, he needed something to pour himself into. "You could say the business and label really picked me up off the floor in a lot of ways.", says Dominic Arellano, the founder and owner of the label. Although he didn't have the record label set up, he started the Few Records as a marketing and public relations firm to start. That same year, one of his clients, Red Bull, asked the Few to program a Detroit Red Bull compilation. After placing him on the compilation, Dominic realized he had a great future artist in the making in Will Sessions/Sam Beaubien, his friend and college roommate. He immediately signed him and formed the Few. the Few's first release came in 2008 with Will Sessions' critically acclaimed "many faces".
