StirSound, the brainchild of Virginia (US) native Ian Funk, was brought to life in an unassuming and cluttered apartment/studio on the Lower East Side of Manhattan during the spring of 2005 with the help and support of audio technology student Adam Virga (aka April Vallen). The Stir imprint was founded on the idea that great electronic music and visual art need not be restricted to vinyl and print mediums but have great potential digitally as the world becomes increasingly 'wired' and the costs associated with traditional media rise.
