DJ Umek planted the seed of new electronic music initiative in the beginning of 2007. The lunch party for 1605-Sixteenofive music platform attracted some of the hottest sound benders of our era, including Guy Gerber, Gregor Tresher, Extrawelt, Mikkel Metal and Benno Blome. The project that builds mainly on live presentations of machine-made music is also supported by the label of the same name. The international initiative 1605-Sixteeofive builds on the philosophy that defined Slovenian techno as one of the leading forces in global music milieu. This tradition that was initiated under the labels such as Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco is now getting fused with similar incentives that build on genre bending, sound searching and cultivation of yet unknown music territories. The ultimate goal of the 1605 Tribe is to invest electronic dance music as a unique cultural expression artistically equal to the ones that build on choir, band or orchestral performances.
Monthly 1605-Sixteenofive radio sessions are designed to promote the journey of the 1605 Tribe and to further contaminate the club scene and your ears with its music philosophy. DJ Umek and his peers will be in charge o the program and most vanguard electronic pioneers from all over the world will share their magic with you.
