The RVNG Intl. star lifts the lid on her new album.
Having worked previously with the Scratch Orchestra and Glintshake, Kate Shilonosova began working as Kate NV in 2016, introducing a striking brand of experimental electronic pop that's at once warm-hearted and surreal. While the music bears comparison to Japanese pop and Fourth World music of the '80s, Shilonosova's work feels suspended in time, connecting lived experience to a fantastical, larger-than-life world.
In conversation with Maya-Róisín Slater, Shilonosova talks us through her new album for RVNG Intl, Room For The Moon, offering insights to its composition and connection to "unlived memories" of Russian and Japanese pop music and film.
