  • Considered one of the founding fathers of Detroit techno, Eddie Fowlkes has invested decades of blood, sweat and innovation into his craft. The self-proclaimed "Godfather of Techno Soul," Fowlkes started DJing in early-'80s Detroit and has since compiled a legendary catalog that includes genre-defining cuts like the 1986 Metroplex single "Goodbye Kiss." Full of raw realness and confidence, Fowlkes shows no signs of slowing down. Next month The Beneficiaries—a collaborative project between Fowlkes, legendary DJ and Producer Jeff Mills, and poet Jessica Care Moore, will release their debut album, The Crystal City Is Alive. This Exchange is the fourth in a collaborative series of podcasts hosted by Underground And Black's Ash Lauryn, a DJ, writer, radio host and RA contributor. Photo credit: Marie Staggat
