  • One of classic American deep house's key traits is creating introspective and personal moods that move the listener to look within themselves in a life-affirming way. When Fred P released the album RE:Actions Of Light as Black Jazz Consortium in 2007, it was clear he had an exceptional gift in this department. When DJs and dancers got into his work, they tended to fall for it hard—many fans seemed to develop an affinity with this producer who'd so clearly put his heart into his work. For at least the last decade, that signature Fred P feeling has been a staple of house and techno. He's made the most of his success by evolving his sound, especially with the suitably titled Evolution Of Light LP, which draws a link to his debut that only shows how far he's come in the past decade. He spoke to RA's Carlos Hawthorn late last year about the realisations, experiences and philosophies that've made him the artist he is today.
