  • This week's Exchange sees DJ, producer and journalist Angus Finlayson continue his investigation into the changing financial situation of underground producers. In part one, we heard about the impact of emerging technologies and streaming services on producer revenue and explored how the industry and community might work toward a fairer model. This month, producers like Patrice Bäumel, Gunnar Haslam and Telefon Tel Aviv reflect on the revenue streams, or lack thereof, available to producers today, along with perspectives from journalists and experts such as Liz Muirhead, Cherie Hu and Mat Dryhurst. First up, we look at the situation of producers trying to earn money from live performances and the complex world of performance royalties. Later on, we cover the divisive topic of brand sponsorship and the struggle facing producers who don't DJ. You can read a written version of the podcast in today's feature. The RA Exchange is also available on Spotify. Producer / Martha Pazienti Caidan
