25 years of beats and pieces.
Ninja Tune is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015. The label was started by Matt Black and Jon More, the duo best known as Coldcut, back in 1990. Since then there have been parties, installations, apps, exhibitions, tours, technological innovations and of course lots of music, all of which has established Ninja Tune as one of the UK's most vital independent labels. Much of their success has come from fostering close relationships with artists—names like Bonobo, Mr Scruff and Amon Tobin are synonymous with Ninja Tune. These days the company is a sprawling operation with offices on both sides of the Atlantic and a roster of affiliated labels that includes Flying Lotus's Brainfeeder and Actress's Werkdiscs. We recently met with Coldcut and longtime managing director Peter Quicke in RA's London office to discuss the past, present and future of Ninja Tune.
