The Norwegian dance music adventurer sits down for an extended interview.
Prins Thomas, real name Thomas Hermansen, started DJing when he was ten. At his local record shop, he met DJ Strangefruit, who would go onto become one of Norway's most influential selectors. A move to Oslo embedded Thomas in the city's thriving '90s club scene, and it's here where he linked up with Hans-Peter Lindstrom. Together the pair helped define contemporary cosmic disco, putting out three albums between 2005 and 2009.
In more recent times he's focused on solo productions, putting out three albums since 2010. His most recent LP arrived this year amid a flurry of activity for Thomas—he also celebrated ten years of his Full Pupp imprint, started a new techno-focused sublabel and compiled the first edition in a new mix series for Japan's Rainbow Disco Club festival. All this and more was up for discussion as Thomas caught up with Aaron Coultate in London recently.
