From Detroit to the world with the dance music veteran.
Stacey Pullen is the product of dance music history. Growing up in Detroit in the 1980s, he heard techno as it was happening, whether over the airwaves from the Electrifying Mojo or at the legendary Music Institute. He logged hours in Derrick May's Transmat studio, worked with Kevin Saunderson on remixes and collaborated with Chicago transplant Chez Damier. At the urging of May, Pullen eventually wound up in Amsterdam in the early '90s. Europe has been an integral part of his career ever since, whether through the artists he champions on his Blackflag imprint or the Ibiza sets that have lately made for season highlights. Between fabric gigs and the intricacies of major label contracts, it's been an interesting journey, which he relayed recently to Ryan Keeling.
