- Spend any length of time with David Wolstencroft and it's clear that he's deeply indebted to his hometown of Manchester. It was there that the DJ and producer, who works under the alias Trus'me, formed his musical identity through exposure to the city's far-reaching scene. The city's melting pot of funk, soul and disco informed much of his debut album, Working Night$, a record that sounded like the work of a veteran when it was released in 2007. Following his work with Chicago's Still Music, who released the very first batch of Trus'me 12-inches, Wolstencroft set-up Prime Numbers. The label has since become one of the UK's go-to outposts for high quality house music, although, much like Wolstencroft himself, techno has been of increasing concern for Prime Numbers of late. As he gears up to release his third full-length, Treat Me Right, we spoke about the difficulties associated with changing your sound, the controversy surrounding his new album's artwork, and the fascinating story behind his debut single, which apparently took him just 20 minutes to write.
