Moritz von Oswald This legendary master of electronic experimentalism and technical exactitude who has an unassailable place in the modern history of forward-thinking music, switched to electronic music in the late '80s. It was the right choice; in the early '90s he co-founded the record label Basic Channel - a label that pioneered the dub techno sound. His name is also always on the headliners of those nice events, like Tresor, Berghain, Tresor 25 years and Atonal Festival in Kraftwerk Berlin, Movement Festival in Detroit, Dimensions and many festivals, many collaborations in theaters and art galleries.
Say Yes did his China Debut last year only in Shanghai, it was a one last minute show, but many fans still flew over from other cities in China for him. This time, Say Yes is very glad to work out a tour with those venues in Shanghai, Beijing, Taipei and Hangzhou. The first stop is happening at Shelter Shanghai, special guest Russian musician from Love Cult will join and present a live set as Myka, the new project with Chinese musician Arrebato (Li Huihui), old friend Jackie and resident Mircohate will join as well.
To follow his career is to take a guided tour through some of the most important developments, places and people in the history of electronic music. Trained as a classical percussionist, von Oswald joined avant-garde new wave band Palais Schaumburg in the early 80s. His growing interest in the possibilities of electronic music culminated in a landmark collaboration with Thomas Fehlmann in 2MB (and 3MB). By the early 90s he had gone on to found Basic Channel (with Mark Ernestus) whose releases would go on to define and epitomize European minimal techno.
As a central figure in the Berlin techno scene which coalesced around the Tresor club and label, von Oswald helped initiate and develop the famous Berlin-Detroit access, collaborating with pathbreaking artists in the burgeoning Techno scene across the Atlantic such as Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Jeff Mills and many others. One of many collaborations of von Oswald with musicians from Detroit since the early 90s, his famous cooperation with Juan Atkins, Borderland, already got 4 releases on Tresor.
As half of both Maurizio and Rhythm & Sound (again with Mark Ernestus) he transformed this new sound in respectively minimal and dub-inflected directions, originating traditions in electronic music that continue to this day. Von Oswald’s influence on the fledgling music scene in Berlin also had a more concrete dimension flowing from his tireless work as a mastering and cutting engineer at the legendary Dubplates & Mastering studio.
Since the new millenium, von Oswald has branched out into more experimental and improvisational contexts: a landmark release for Deutsche Grammophon which commissioned him and Carl Craig combine to recompose music from Ravel and Mussorgsky, a critically acclaimed collaboration with Norwegian jazz trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer for Universal Music as well as continued recorded and live work as The Moritz von Oswald Trio which has seen him ‘conduct’ music peers Max Loderbauer, Sasu Rippatti (Vladislav Delay) and, most recently, legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. Von Oswald’s later work builds on his illustrious output from the 90s - which has now entered the canon of truly original and influential electronic music - and expand it through novel projects, collaborations and performances.

Moritz von Oswald, 德国传奇音乐人, Dub Techno一代宗师, Basic Channel, Maurizio, Rhythm & Sound联合创始人。传奇, 先驱这些词曾被无数次滥用，但在Moritz身上恰如其分，当之无愧。 这位电子音乐实验主义及技术精良的传奇大师在整个前瞻性，实验性音乐现代发展史上占据了重要的一席之地，引得无数乐迷顶礼膜拜。他的名字始终和世界最有影响力的名词紧密相连。曾多次作为重要嘉宾在柏林著名Techno俱乐部Tresor演出并在其厂牌发行作品, 宇宙中心夜店Berghain更是不在话下。跳出Club, 他的名字频繁出现在最权威最高端的舞台的头牌阵容里: 在德国著名空间Kraftwerk Berlin举办的Tresor 25周年特别活动和Atonal Berlin音乐节, 底特律Movement音乐节, 还有Dimensions等不胜枚举的各大顶级音乐节, 更包括剧院及艺术场馆的各种艺术合作项目。
2015年9月, Say Yes有幸邀请到他到中国首演, 当时档期和宣传周期紧张, 仅上海一站。尽管如此，依然有很多得知演出消息后从全国各地打飞匆匆奔赴上海的铁杆粉丝带着他的黑胶唱片和CD，前来朝圣，这可都是真爱啊! 也许正是因为去年的契机为Moritz留下了深刻的印象，让他对中国有了更多的牵挂, Say Yes经过一番努力在2016年11月安排了包括上海，北京, 台北, 杭州在内的亚洲巡演。首站选择了对中国电子音乐历程有着重要影响的聚集地Shelter也有着十分重要的意义。当晚更有特别嘉宾, 来自俄罗斯的Love Cult用他的新合作项目Myka呈现一个特别的live set, 老朋友Jackie和驻场Microhate一同冲锋陷阵。
纵观Moritz von Oswald的音乐历程，几乎都与各种音乐最重要的发展阶段，与电子音乐史重要的关键人, 事，场所紧密相连。80年代，他是Palais Schaumburg和Associates乐队的打击乐手。80年代后期, 他做出了非常重要的选择——向电子音乐转型。初期他与Thomas Fehlmann及后来一同建立先锋厂牌Basic Channel 的搭档Mark Ernestus共同完成的制作发行成为Dub Techno的重要缩影，他们也因此成为90年代最具影响力的Techno音乐制作人。

千禧年后, Moritz拓展到更多实验音乐和即兴音乐的范畴: 在Deutsche Grammophon最里程碑式的发行委托他和底特律Techno先锋人物Carl Craig共同将Ravel和Mussorgsky的音乐作品进重新编曲, 和挪威爵士小号手Nils Petter Molvaer为环球音乐联手制作广受好评的作品一直持续录制, 当然还有他和长期合作伙伴Max Loderbauer及尼日利亚鼓王Tony Allen饱受赞誉的组合Moritz von Oswald Trio.作为一位元老级人物却他始终保持低调, 从不欣赏刻意的时尚姿态，因为他坚信音乐本身会说话。
Myka is a solo project of Ivan Zoloto, a Russian artist who runs a respected label Full of Nothing and plays in Love Cult. Ivan has made a name for himself as a lover of "New Dramatic Music", a mix of contemporary electronics, drone, techno, bass, noise and dub influences.
Having played all over the world with Love Cult (Germany, UK, Spain, Norway, Turkey etc.), Ivan has done only one live show with Myka so far – opening for The KVB in Shanghai's QSW. That is if you don't count his fiery DJ-sets in Shanghai and Beijing with Asian Dope Boys the past month. Myka is currently recording his debut solo EP (inspired by love & vomiting) with a Chinese musician Arrebato (Li Huihui).
Myka是俄罗斯艺术家Ivan Zoloto的个人项目。大家可能更为熟悉他在Full of Nothing厂牌下的另一个化名Love Cult. 音乐风格主要为electronics, drone, techno, bass, noise和很多dub元素的类型。在用Love Cult 展开世界巡演期间，他同时用Myka这个新项目为The KVB上海站和Asian Dope Boys的巡演上同台演出。这个与中国女艺术家Arrebato合作的项目已经发行了一个EP, 期待他们呈现的live演出。
Jackie is a next generation DJ who's musical roots are strongly influenced by traditional Techno and at the same time making a move to a new sound and mixing. Influenced by the classical Detroit sound, he takes on the spirits and aesthetics of Underground Resistance, Tresor, and Basic Channel. As an individual feedback to the omnipresent alike digital timbres and sounds all over, he tends to return to the nature of the origin, to put his audience on a musical journey of rough texture but rich in groove and energy. Jackie is an adventurous DJ who's improvising mixtures of different elements, like sounds from old analog drum machines, some African beats, or industrial bangs are a very personal statement in opposition to DJ sets of no character and spirit.
Jackie 无论是作为中央人民广播电台调频音乐节目的制作/主持，还是网络电台、海盗电台的独立节目制作，直至各大地下俱乐部,音乐节演出及国际艺人支持，都有他的身影。或许是本土最为身体力行的诠释“DJ”这个角色的人物。对于黑人音乐的喜爱，以及底特律根源的继承，使得目前致力于传统Techno/House领域的他与众不同。中规中矩、毫无生气的“安全牌”式混音手法是他所摒弃的。他是一名不按常理出牌、富有冒险精神的DJ，喜欢多种元素的杂糅。那些黑人风骨的节奏，科幻电影的氛围，工业化的声响，全部在现场即兴的碰撞中共冶一炉。同时，代表了本土DJ与制作人的他目前正专注于制作自己的作品，以及继续完善个人的黑胶收藏。在北京的驻场DJ工作中积累了丰富的经验之后来到上海，并活跃于许多诸如Void和Say Yes等地下电音主办方在Shelter举办的派对。
Microhate, ex editorial director of DJ Mag Chinese version, journalist about Electronica music, Evan aka Microhate turns into a DJ now from an veteran clubber. His DJ style is varied as his music taste, including old school and modern House/Techno, and UKG/Bass music. To bring non-stop energy to the dance floor, and searching for avant-garde factor in groove is always his ultimate motivation of being a DJ, he's the old member of SWIM, the local label in Beijing, recently newly joined Say Yes.
Microhate 电子音乐记者，混迹舞曲圈多年后按耐不住转行做起DJ，同时为电音品牌SWIM中的一员，化名Microhate。他的风格多元，涉猎美式根源舞曲、德式重拍舞曲和英式未来电音。带给舞池永不停歇的能量，与不懈追寻律动中的前卫因子是其作为DJ的最大动力, 近期刚加入Say Yes。
