Much like a young man or woman clinging to the faded hopes of their twenties, we at Avant Garde are refusing to accept the end of our birthday celebrations, and thus we take over the hugely esteemed Dance Tunnel in Dalston to dance the night away on Sat 12th March.
There is huge excitement about this event within Avant Garde towers, as we're brining one of our favourite producers and performers, CLARIAN, to London to showcase his electronic, housey, dance-focussed sounds. Clarian has released on an eclectic mix of the biggest labels of the moment: from Life & Death to Rumors, from Visionquest to Turbo, from Ajunadeep to, of course, Kompakt. In fact, Some have described his music as: "similar to an intensified cannabinoid induced state of sexual consciousness". Laced in homemade beats and toxic hooks, Clarian is on the fringe between experimental house and pseudo pop, re-imagining tones into an addictive cocktail with his signature dance floor poetry; his latest Kompakt EP, Mission To Bars, has been heard worldwide on dance floors powered by titans such as Michael Mayer and Dixon.
Joining Clarian will be the Avant Garde residential trio of RABOTA, TROUBADOUR and NICO, who will be spanning the genres on the custom Funktion 1 system. You may have heard one of the three on our weekly Friday Bloop. radio show, or perhaps caught Rabota warming up for Caribou, or maybe seen The Troubadour playing to a packed peak time room at our NYD party...if not then don't worry, we forgive you, for this is the perfect environment in which to delve into the Avant Garde sound.
Speaking of perfect sound, the venue for this event, Dance Tunnel, is somewhere we've always wanted to put on a party. With Plastic People gone, Dance Tunnel is one of a handful of clubs left to carry the torch for underground dance music in London; it's a dark room with a massive soundsystem, but with only a 200 capacity we'd advise to book this one early.
