The first production of Metropolis Festival takes place indoors at the RDS, Dublin on 7th / 8th November 2015! Across 6 rooms, this 2 day affair will feature live music, performance, conversations (featuring a handpicked panel of creatives) and unique installations which will transform the RDS into an audio-visual playground. Our conversation line-up, curated by Greedy Pig, and our installation line-up will be announced in the weeks to come but, in the meantime, we are delighted to reveal our first announcement of artists performing live at Metropolis - a very special, fresh offering to the festival circuit. The Mother City is born... Performing live at Metropolis:
We’re thrilled to announce that CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers will be taking to the Metropolis stage. Among music legends, Nile Rodgers is truly exceptional. He amplifies his legacy as a Grammy-winning composer, producer, arranger, and guitarist by constantly traversing new musical terrain and successfully expanding the boundaries of popular music. As the co-founder of CHIC, Rodgers pioneered a musical language that sparked the advent of hip-hop with Good Times, distinguished CHIC as the "most sampled band in history" (The Guardian), won CHIC nine Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations and generated ground-breaking pop hits like Le Freak, which will be inducted into the 2015 Grammy Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone named Rodgers one of ‘the 50 Most Important People in EDM’ (2014) and his unrivalled track record is a mere glimpse of what's yet to come. Do not miss the chance to see the greatest dance music band of all time – totally LIVE – playing their new smash single, I’ll Be There.
We’ll be welcoming The Roots to the Metropolis stage for their first Dublin show in over 10 years! These incredible artists have been pushing boundaries with their signature brand of hip hop and neo soul since ’87. The Roots regularly feature at the top of lists of the Best Hip Hop Acts of All Time with a breathtaking live show to match.
Musician, singer, DJ and Producer, Mark Ronson is a certified hit machine. He’s produced records for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Lana Del Ray and more. He released one of the biggest records of the past few years in Uptown Funk, which has cemented is position as one of the most coveted producers on the planet. When he isn’t writing chart topping hits, his first love is spinning records and he’ll be stepping up to the decks this November!
Jamie xx is one of the most talented DJs, producers and remix artists going. A member of indie pop heroes The xx, he recently released his debut solo album In Colour to massive critical acclaim – hitting the #1 slot in the UK and Irish Independent Album Charts. His latest single Loud Places featuring Romy is all over the airwaves. He played to a packed out, heaving tent of happy festival goers at this year’s Forbidden Fruit this summer. He is not to be missed!
What can we say about Giorgio Moroder? He is the founder of disco. He is an electronic trailblazer. He is an influential producer, songwriter, performer and DJ. At the ripe age of 74, Moroder still has his finger on the pulse of dance culture and we await the presence of true genius to the RDS!
MixMag called Todd Terje the ‘king of the summer jams’Spin Magazine hailed him as ‘one third of the Holy Trinity of Norwegian disco’ and Rolling Stone listed him as one of ‘The 25 DJs That Rule the Earth’ That’s some serious praise from some serious folks and we can safely say 2015 is the Year of the Norse!
From Haiti by way of Montreal, Kaytranada’s irresistible production and live sets have seen him amass a huge following for someone who’s still just getting started. The way he bridges the gap between dance, hip-hop and R&B has been a revelation. He drops his solo album on XL later this year with a series of high profile collaborations that should confirm his position as one of the most important producers in today’s musical landscape.
We’re bringing you yet another legend of the dance music scene, Jeff Mills. He is the most recognised representative figure of the Detroit Techno scene, however, his artistic career goes much further than techno music. For over a decade, he’s been transcending disciplines with a large number of collaborations in contemporary art and is rightly considered the most brilliant DJ and producer of techno in the world.

Well known as a pioneer of Canadian rave culture, he’s remixed for the likes of Depeche Mode, The Vests, Moby, LCD Soundsystem, Mylo, Phillipe Zdar, Chelonius Jones, Drama Society, Thomas Anderssonand countless others. Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, KiNK is a house, techno and broken beat experimental producer and DJ. His ability to reshape classic sounds into totally different beasts is what makes KiNK a seriously in demand producer and remixer in the world of house music. Maribou State are English electronic duo Chris Davids and Liam Ivory. Since 2011, the pair have steadily built a glowing international reputation via a string of well-loved EPs and a fistful of remixes (including Kelis, Ultraísta, Fatboy Slim and Lana Del Rey). Radio heavyweights like Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, Annie Mac, B. Traits, Pete Tong and Gilles Peterson amongst others, have been quick to support with praise from the electronic press flowing thick and fast, too.
Austrian composer, producer, and keyboard artist, Dorian Concept’s work draws on an eclectic variety of sources including modal and free jazz, funk, hip-hop, and electronic, ambient and soundscape music. His jazz-influenced beat concoctions wreak (brilliant) havoc on the dance-floor but never lose their sense of musicality.

Dublin’s DJ Kormac performs his own audio-visual shows to then join forces with his own 11-piece ensemble, Kormac’s Big Band. With a brass section and an ever-evolving group consisting of bass, drums, electronics, guitars, synths, turntables, singers and MC, each show is unique.
