Electric Wire Hustle
Wyles & Simpson
Electric Wire Hustle are back - Flying over from New Zealand with nothing but Soul packed in their cases and brand new material stored in the overheads, this is going to be a special show. Their dark, skittering percussion and out-front vocals touch down in London on Saturday 18th April 2015 at Oslo in Hackney.
Developing their own sound and twist on modern hip hop, psychedelic and soul, New Zealand’s Electric Wire Hustle has forged a fresh sound that challenges genre boundaries and preconceptions. Thick drums and percussion layered with synth lines, hints of Fender Rhodes and nylon stringed guitars are all features that will have your head nodding, your feet tapping and your hands clapping. All at once.
Since forming in 2007, EWH have experienced an outstanding response to their music. Their strong live shows have seen them support Soundcrash favourites such as UK soul singer Alice Russell and Japan’s DJ Krush as well as gathering unprecedented radio support worldwide most notably from the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Benji B, New York’s Tyler Askew and LA’s DJ Jamad. Their track ‘They Don’t Want’ skyrocketed to the number 1 spot on the Hype Machine and was also selected by BBC 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson to feature on his Brownswood Bubblers Compilation.
We're excited to announce that Wyles & Simpson have been added to the bill! After making a massive impact on the world stage with their synth-laden melodies and string arrangements the duo will hit the Oslo stage. Signed to MTA Records, Wyles & Simpson have worked with Rihanna, Nile Rodgers, Chase & Status, Doc Daneeka, Matthew Halsall and Illum Sphere.
If their recent Stormy Skies is anything to go by, it'll be a magical night.
