Jacob Martin, whose solo releases as Hodge have traced a similar path between dubstep's depth and the driving rhythms of house. Despite having only a handful of releases to his name, Hodge can also take credit as one half of the house duo Outboxx. Hodge is a name that repeatedly crops up as a talent to watch.
Between his two projects, Martin seems to have tapped into the balance between pure enjoyment and sonic experimentation that seems to be flourishing in post-dubstep Bristol.
Armed with a potent arsenal of technical drum programming and barrel-scoured sub-bass pressure, Hodge has carved a unique position for himself in Bristol’s new school which straddles the boundary between the city’s special breed of dubstep and the scuzzier realms of heads-down techno. Hodge’s charismatic performances come pre-laced with a deadly sense of unremitting propensity, tapping into a wide palette of influences to drag revellers into a heady maze of tripping beats and future-facing soundscapes.
Ben Hunter will once again be gracing the decks, bringing his illustrious skills to Swansea. Expect a vinyl heavy set of Detroit chords, Chicago clap, NY jack, UK bass with a thick slice of debauchery on the side to help keep things suitably moist....
