This Autumn, we’re handing the keys for the NIGHT EMBASSY BERLIN to six artists and collectives for a series of two-week-long residencies.
Berlin’s club culture brings global influences to local dance floors, and this night is no exception. Curated by CO:QUO, the genre-fluid line-up presents a cross section of the city’s sounds and stories. Join us for a night with Alison Swing, who co-founded L.A. warehouse party series Dig Deeper LA, as well as REEF’s Darwin, a Canadian-born selector who’s brought the likes of Pinch, Kode9, and Objekt to Berlin’s Griessmüehle.
Juba Music will also play a set: Based in Berlin but born in London, the DJ and Boko! Boko! Collective member delves into the worlds of music and culture from, on, or with links to the African continent. Be sure to come early for Make It Work, a new project run by Kaitlyn & Tom Drew that aims to elevate under-the-radar artists.
About Alison Swing (Wilde Renate Club, Dig Deeper LA)
Alison Swing is an LA-bred and Berlin-based DJ, promoter, and self-described vinyl junkie whose love of records is only outweighed by the thrill of playing them to sweaty crowds. She is a co-founder and resident DJ of the L.A. warehouse party series Dig Deeper with her curator-in-crime Masha. After a recent relocation to Berlin in 2017, things have not shown any signs of slowing down with her impressive international tour schedule and a monthly DJ residency at Berlin’s Wilde Renate.
About Darwin (REEF)
Canadian-born selector Darwin has been a resident at Berlin institution Griessmuehle since 2014, where she also hosts REEF, a semi-regular party with a laser focus on U.K. club music that is responsible for bringing the likes of Pinch, Kode9, and Objekt to 24-hour raves that join the dots between techno, dub, and breakbeat. Darwin also channels her passion for U.K.-centric sounds into her label SPE:C, which to date has released a series of steely EPs from Bristolian producers Decka and Trans A.M, as well as this year’s brilliantly moody two-tracker “Triptan” by Significant Other.
About Juba (Boko! Boko!, Cashmere Radio)
DJ from London and part of the Boko! Boko! Collective.
Based in Berlin, born in London and of Nigerian descent, Juba explores contemporary sounds from Africa and the African diaspora. From afrobeats to kuduro, baile carioca to UK funky and beyond, each Afroelektronik show delves into the different worlds of music and culture originating from, or with links to, the African continent, often accompanied by insightful chats with special guests as well as expert mixes from DJs from all over the world.
About Make It Work
