Classic Album Sundays Adelaide - David Bowie Heroes
Please join us for the first Classic Album Sundays event in Adelaide and enjoy David Bowie's seminal album “Heroes” in full, immersive, high fidelity sound.
What's Classic Album Sundays you ask?
Classic Album Sundays is a global movement dedicated to the presentation of classic vinyl records, played through a hand-picked Hi Fi system, front to back, for the pleasure of an audience who might not otherwise get to experience these records in this way. The intention is to provide sounds that are in-keeping with those originally produced by the artists involved and played as the artists intended.
Our 1st Album of the month to be hosted by the CAS Adelaide team is David Bowie's 1977 magnum opus, Heroes.
A classic among classics in this legend's discography, and the climactic second album in his Berlin Trilogy, Heroes was and still is the definition of cool.
Filled with both ambient beauty and huge tunes from “Beauty and the Beast” to “Blackout” to famous title track, its unforgettable fusion of the epic and the experimental helped to cement Bowie's legacy for good.
But do you know who influenced this album, the story behind the title track? all will be revealed during this event.
The album will be played In full, on vinyl and on a audiophile Hi-Fi set up that will send shivers down your spine! all in a roomful of no doubt highly emotional fans at The Jade – this should be a very special listening experience!
What is Classic Album Sundays?
Classic Album Sundays was founded by Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy. Murphy is a radio host (having hosted shows since 1982 and having produced widely syndicated radio shows in the USA); an international audiophile DJ (protegé of David Mancuso and Francois Kevorkian and Director of London's Lucky Cloud Sound System); music producer and remixer (remixes for The Rapture on DFA and producing Wild Rumpus with guitarist Gary Lucas of Captain Beefheart and Jeff Buckley fame); independent label owner and a music journalist. In her younger years, Murphy worked for a number of well-known record shops, where she amassed far too many records.
CAS currently holds regular classic-album listening sessions in London, New York, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Oslo and many more cities. As it has touched upon a cultural nerve with its mission of challenging the way we listen to music in the 21st century, CAS has received amazing coverage in BBC Breakfast TV, The Guardian, Elle Magazine, NME, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and more.
