To kick off the festival, Heroines of Sound will present a full-length concert with the Berlin-based ensemble LUX:NM. In addition to new works by Oxana Omelchuk, Carola Bauckholt and Annesley Black, two comissioned compositions by Laura Mello and the Hungarian artist Judit Varga will have their world premiere. All of these compositions combine traditional instruments with sometimes very unusual objects, media or technologies. Individual performances by Maja Osojnik and Irena Tomažin, both representing the current music scene in Slovenia, as well as a subsequent joint performance bring the first festival evening to an end with another highlight.
Concerts, performances, video art and discourse: for the sixth time since 2014, “Heroines of Sound” presents early and contemporary heroines of electronic sound at radialsystem. With more than thirty artists, the festival addresses boundaries and transgressions that broaden artistic terrain and question aesthetic norms. This year’s festival will focus on artists from Hungary and Slovenia. The concluding highlight is a premiere by AGF, internationally renowned artist and activist, and this year’s Heroines guest curator.
