Making History: Chile to open the first nightclub in the world
to operate fully on renewable energy
Budweiser presents “BUDXLAFERIA”
Santiago de Chile, May 2019 - Budweiser announced its collaboration with Club La Feria, the renowned electronic nightclub located in the heart of Barrio Bellavista, to transform it into the first nightclub in the world that will operate fully on renewable energy.
This joint campaign between Budweiser and Club La Feria follows a global initiative of the beer brand where, according to an announcement made at the World Economic Forum in 2018, Budweiser is committed to transforming their global production by 2025 with 100% clean energy.
The iconic brewery began thinking of innovative ways to bring sustainability into the daily lives of Chileans, and since 2018, all USA-imported beer consumed in Chile is made using 100% renewable electric power. The message is clear: Budweiser’s traditional red six-packs are now brewed with wind power.
But, now the challenge is to take sustainability a step further, and engage with consumers on a deeper, more meaningful level: through electronic music. That’s when the brand decided to work collaboratively with Fernando Diaz, owner of the renowned electronic nightclub in Chile, on this unprecedented project.
La Feria’s new concept will launch May 30th, at 10:30 p.m.
By the Numbers:
● The implementation of 35 photovoltaic panels in the club will produce 1,299 kWh of
energy per month. This will cover 100% of what the club consumes.
● To understand how much energy will be saved with this initiative, an interesting
comparison can be made: on average, a house consumes 206 kWh per month, 6.3
times less than nightclubs. This is the main reason renewable energy is of great
importance for both Budweiser and La Feria.
● With this initiative, Budweiser and La Feria will avoid the 6.51 tons of CO2 that are
Committed to a more sustainable future:
“We started a long and complex journey that was far greater than innovating and making beer production sustainable. Our job is also to educate and motivate our consumers to join this movement”, said Andrés Chaveyriat, brand director of Budweiser in Chile. “We wanted to bring this commitment to all the platforms where our brand lives. As music is one of our most representative pillars, we’re excited that we were able to combine the two worlds of sustainability and music. And, even better to be doing so with our closest partner, La Feria,” he
Budweiser’s commitment in Chile began last year within the framework of Creamfields, when the brand presented the first stage powered with 100% renewable energy. Today, with “BUDXLAFERIA”, the goal is even greater: to give each consumer the possibility to choose a new way to enjoy music in a conscious and environmentally friendly way.
