Sunday Love, July 14th • Green Room 3PM
Advance Tickets on sale now.
What does it mean to Faff? Sunday Love is excited to present the return of veteran DJ/producer Matthew Dekay in conjunction with DC’s Faff Lounge. Navbox, Neko Berg, and Anadroid will also be on music duty to raise funds for the DC Burning Man camp, FAFF Lounge.
So what’s Faff? A British word that means to do something other than what you “should” be doing. But FAFF Lounge turns that judgment on its head. We embrace faffing, that vitally important time when we say, “To hell with the things I should be doing!” and instead take time for ourselves and our health.
So come faff, dance, be in community, and help FAFF Lounge bring its offerings to the playa.
In addition to the awesome beats, you’ll find…
* Sound healing with gong virtuoso David Martin in main room at 3pm
* Guided coherence movement with Nicky Pham on the rooftop at 4pm
* Mezcal tasting of the new Ilegal Mezcal Joven, an agave based spirit, from 6-9pm
* A mini FAFF Lounge to chill Burning Man-style and toss your “shoulds” away
* 3D reflective art by Arthur Clarke
* Live body painting by DC Creators’ Davina Louise
* and more to be announced

Dutch composer and DJ Matthew Dekay has pushed the boundaries of electronic music for nearly two decades. His training in composition and classical piano coupled with his mastery of cutting-edge technology have been the building blocks to his sonic innovation. Dekay’s DJ sets are instantly recognizable by his distinct signature “groove” where he simultaneously blends multiple tracks, creating a hypnotic composition that captivates the dance floor. His love for a variety of genres in electronic dance music, ranging between ambient, house music, and dub techno, translates to an affection for extended DJ sets.
Dekay grew up in a musical family - his dad was a funk bass/guitar player with an obsession for reggae/dub, and his mother danced in a Romanian folk group. He developed a diverse musical taste, ranging from Satie, Terry Riley, and Vangelis, to Bob Marley and King Tubby.
Growing up in Haarlem, The Netherlands, Matthew was first exposed to electronic music in the early ’90s. Deeply inspired by the early club movement, with legendary spots like the Roxy and iT in Amsterdam, he quickly became obsessed with combining his musical roots with this new wave. In the early 2000s, Matthew had a quick string of successes with his early music productions, and he found himself performing all over the world, ranging from clubs like Space and Amnesia in Ibiza to festivals like the Berlin Love Parade and Dance Valley in Amsterdam.
By 2008, Dekay began to explore new sonic possibilities in the studio with Canadian producer Jimmy Vallance (of Bob Moses). What Matthew discovered in this collaboration was eventually used as the foundation for a new sound; which later became known as the signature sound of the influential party series and record label, All Day I Dream, which Dekay co-founded in partnership with Lee Burridge in 2011. Burridge was eager to develop a party concept that reflected another part of his broad musical taste as a DJ. It wasn’t long before their ADID imprint was a sensation in the New York party scene. One of the first tracks ‘Lost In A Moment,’ which was signed to the Berlin-based label Innervisions, epitomized the ADID sound and quickly became a blueprint all over the world. At the end of 2015, Dekay released a 1-hour cinematic soundtrack, combining a series of works from the evolution of his career without any beats supporting the music. Named after one of his successful tracks “Für die liebe,” which means “For the love,” in German, this highly innovative mix was featured by XLR8R. After the summer of 2016, Dekay decided it was time to leave ADID to further his horizons and exploration in electronic music. In 2017 Matthew took some time off for the studio to try out different techniques and to utilize new technology to push the sonic boundaries of his productions even further, which resulted in a collaboration with a legendary local electrical engineer who has also worked with some of the most avant-garde electronic music producers in the Berlin underground scene.
In 2018, Dekay returned to making dance floor-oriented music. His most recent sets have given us a sneak peak of his upcoming releases on the Mandar’s label, Oscillat, including a collaboration project with S.A.M.. Dekay will also launch a highly anticipated party concept in Berlin later this year. In addition to all of this Matthew has started to release music under his alias, MDK, and is planning to finally release some of his material that has been doing the rounds in the club scene for some time now.
Neko Berg is a Brazilian born, Washington DC native who was first introduced to dance music at fourteen. He began mixing at age 23 after being inspired by his travels to Europe and South America. David combines his skill set as a yogi, healer and neuro-acoustic sound worker to create an immersive experience in yoga and sound meditation designed to release attendees from subconscious patterning, habitual tendencies, and past programming and conditioning. Not only is the gong a sonic experience, it also facilitates a deep, ultrasonic massage of the entire body on a cellular level that allows us to experience wholeness and even altered or heightened states of consciousness. We become hyper aware of our entire being and it’s many layers as it is in a constant state of vibration. This truly unique experience of mantra repetition and the gong is deeply relaxing and potently healing, offerring a profound sense of harmony and stillness. It is David’s mission to share this uniquely powerful experience of wholeness with as many people and communities as he can while he is on this Earth. Highly recommended for team building and bringing harmony to the workplace and one’s overall life.
During her journey as a dancer of 15 years, Nicky found yoga as an integral part of her movement journey after suffering a weightlifting injury in 2014. Her curiosities to extend beyond yogasana and explore movement meditation as not only a healing modality, but also a cathartic release, have driven her explorations to incorporate her movement practices as an offering to yoga and fitness studios in the DC area. "It starts with the sound of your own heart beating, then you step into the rhythm of your own soul moving, and there, something much bigger than you could ever imagine ignites, bursting into a flame that nourishes the parts of you that you didn't know existed."

Burning Man camp based primarily in Washington, DC. Who among us has not been criticized for faffing? A British word, faff is defined as "spending your time doing things other than what you should be doing." And Burners have turned it into an acronym: FAFF - F*%king Around F*!king Forever. But at FAFF Lounge, we turn that judgment on its head. We embrace the faff, that important time when we say, “To hell with the things I should be doing!” and take time for ourself and our health. FAFF Lounge disrupts your Type-A To Do list with a space designed to ritually unravel your expectations. The FAFF crew will distract you from your ambitious playa agenda. We will engage you, tease you, entertain you and subvert you. Your scripted day will be ripped from your mind and thrown onto our FAFF shrine. It will be burned at the Temple. And you will be freer for it.
