Amelie Lens (Lenske, Second State | Belgium)
There is no need for a romantic tale of musical heritage to be told here. Presumably most promising artists have deeply rooted feelings for what they do anyway. Let us only speak of the known facts. The personal vita.
Amelie Lens is a very discerning Belgian, she has an obsession for telling stories through radical cones of sound. She exhausts search engines looking for new material to create the narrative. Constantly defining the parameters within resources and time, she plots to unleash well–timed, dramatic and super–tense climaxes. She relies only on herself for the dispersion of these decisive moments, but subconsciously it spreads like a virus throughout the crowd which makes everyone an accomplice in a way.
Farrago (Lenske, A R T S | Belgium)
Farrago surfaces as a new name on the Belgian techno scene albeit with a familiar face. In 2013 Sam Deliaert formerly known as Talbot Wood was picked up by compatriots Jorn and Tom - from Other Heights and Curle Recordings respectively - under who's flag he played multiple showcases and live shows across Europe throughout '13 & '14.
The name change is motivated by the meaning of the word itself. Farrago, literally 'a perplexing mixture', is the alignment and legacy of his earlier work merged with new ideas and recent development.
Arpeggiated melodies reverberating endlessly to the point where they are deemed tangible driven by the resonating sound of a classic 4/4 kickdrum. It's the perfect marriage between body and soul.
For now, preparing a live performance built around the Octatrack - the beating heart of the setup - is his main priority. Meanwhile though, some of the more captivating patterns and synthesis from his other Elektron unit, the Analog Four, have already found their way through a recording device. This preceded a connection with ARTS, a young but already quite established Berlin based techno label, home to the likes of Dax J, Keith Carnal, Inigo Kennedy, Shlømo and il capitano: Emmanuel.
Philip Goyette (Flash | DC)
Holding a monthly residency at Flash, and as a frequent guest at U Street Music Hall, Goyette has established himself as a key tastemaker in the underground dance music scene in Washington D.C. His signature sound has also brought him to the legendary Queen! party at Smart Bar in Chicago, The Electric Pickle in Miami, Le Bain and Black Flamingo in NYC, Hype and Topless in Istanbul, First Avenue in Minneapolis, and frequent radio features. Through his decade of DJing Goyette has opened for some of the biggest names in dance music including Maceo Plex, Green Velvet, Derrick May, George Fitzgerald, Ryan Elliot, Tim Sweeney, Solomun, Hot Since 82, and many others.
