Nathan Micay [LuckyMe / Whities]
Breakwave [Meine Nacht / Deep Sea Frequencies]
Michael Upson [Love Muscle]
On Sunday 26th May we return to The White Hotel for some late May Bank Holiday antics, inviting Nathan Micay as part of his new album tour, and two of the finest prospects the North has to offer; Breakwave & Michael Upson.
The artist formerly known as Bwana. Canadian born, Berlin based Nathan Micay’s reputation has been growing by the second. After racking up releases on the likes of Whities, Can Can, Aus Music and ESP institute, Nathan has become a scene firm favourite playing at established UK parties such as Trouble Vision, Percolate and appearances at Moxie’s On Loop parties.
His debut album, entitled ‘Blue Spring’, will be released on 3rd May, just a few weeks before he graces the decks of the White Hotel, and having already teased us with the first single, the club ready stomper ‘The Party We Could Have’, an acid tinged, euphoric wall shaker, we have high hopes for the 11 track full-length set to be released on LuckyMe.
It sounds as though 2019 is going to be another busy one with releases pencilled in for the latter half, and an appearance at Berghain in April alongside DJ Pierre, FJAAK and Roi Perez. His recent Beats In Space, Mixmag and Resident Advisor mixes were outstanding and we can’t wait for him to bring his sound to the White Hotel; a perfect match.
Closing the event will be Liverpool’s finest, Breakwave. Alongside good friend Or:La, she is responsible for Meine Nacht, a series of club nights hosted at various venues across Liverpool that has played host to the likes of Tasker, Avalon Emerson, Skee Mask and Courtesy. And it’s the same pair that are also behind the Deep Sea Frequency label that last year dropped a four track EP from one of the DJ’s of the moment, DJ Seinfeld. As a DJ her stock is rising fast and a very busy 2018 saw her play at some of the biggest parties and venues including Corsica Studios, Salon Zur Wilden Renate in Berlin and a residency at The Warehouse Project. With an EP on the way and a bi-monthly NTS radio show, Jess shows no signs of slowing down.
Founder and DJ at the popular Leeds based LGBTQ party Love Muscle, Michael joins us to open proceedings on the night. Having hosted previous Ordinary Friends guests Gideön and Spencer Parker as well as other stalwarts of the underground scene such as Justin Cudmore and Shaun J. Wright, Love Muscle has soon become one of the finest parties Leeds has to offer. We’ve been lucky enough to witness Michael play on a couple of occasions and we can tell you from experience that his blend of disco and pumping house will certainly get the room shaking.
If you came to stand still, stand somewhere else!
