Headless presents Paleman w/ Re:ni, Paxman & Korzter
For our first party of the year, Headless welcomes Paleman, Re:ni & Paxman to Meraki, an intimate venue just north of the city centre. Powered by Void and music supplied by some of our favourite selectors, this will not be one to miss.
Raised in Manchester studying Jazz at Chethams School of Music and Trinity College of Music, Paleman has rapidly risen through the ranks since emerging in 2012 from the UKs vibrant post-dubstep scene. He has quickly become one of the UK’s most respected DJs and producers. With multiple releases on Swamp81 and collaborations with UK mercury prize jazz nominees Polar Bear earlier in his career, to recently launching a curated solo show on Rinse FM exploring deeper techno sounds and debuting his electronic percussion-based live show at Manchester International festival alongside Clark, Paleman has truly solidified his place in the underground dance music industry and beyond.
Now with two self releases under his belt on personal imprint PLMN Records, Paleman seems to be on an ever increasing upwards curve, shifting his sound and exploring new realms of modular driven techno that defy convention. With tunes being spun regularly by the likes of Boddika and Ben UFO, Paleman’s knack for percussive, textural but elegantly driven dance floor music has taken him around the world to showcase his unique DJing style and array of unreleased experiments. With studies in classical music and jazz his drumming skills and influences take note from all four corners of the musical world, as well as the dystopian future of hardware based machine music. Paleman seems to constantly be pushing boundaries in both his DJ sets and productions and 2018 seems set to be a flourishing year for the young producer.
Birmingham-born, Dorset-raised and South London-based re:ni's appetite for deep rhythmic sounds is informed by her teenage years spent listening to drum & bass, dubstep and garage. As a selector, re:ni is drawn to off-kilter rhythms playing an energetic blend of UK techno, breaks and electro which have placed her on line-ups alongside Objekt, A Made Up Sound, Minor Science and Bruce. As well as regularly guesting for Nic Tasker's Whities show on NTS she has helmed acclaimed mixes for Electronic Explorations, Inverted Audio and Happy Skull.
Paxman is part of the Manchester delegation of Loose Lips. With radio residencies on Reform, Mcr Live, 199 & Limbo Radio. Specialising in the heavier & more industrial aspects of dance music. Go hard or home!
