Rey & Kjavik
Since its inception in 2014, Torture the Artist has emerged as an in-demand webzine for artists, labels and music enthusiasts with a keen connection to deep and melodically-influenced electronic music. What started out as an electronic music blog thrived off of the gravity that draw music lovers together, and instantly evolved as a community built on the love for music, for the love of music, inspired by music, through the dialogue of and about music. As a literary platform, Torture the Artist transcended literature into music poetry, fluidly translating music so closely into words and vice versa. And as followers and supporters, interviewees and contributors from all across the globe connected through the body and soul, the vim and vigor of Torture the Artist, from written word to music, charts to discourse, it is only a matter of time for the collective to steep on years of being in the forefront and amidst the electronic music scene, and express its very fabric and driving factors into sound and movement.
For Torture the Artist's first musical journey Frankfurt-based artist Rey&Kjavik visits the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. Known not only for his soul-stirring, deep-rooted productions, Rey&Kjavik has graced national and international dancefloors with groovy, melodic sets far and wide. Having supported Torture the Artist since its early years, Rey&Kjavik’s sensual and complex attention to music in addition to his longstanding bond with the collective will enable him to perfectly careen partygoers into a night of sheer energy and non-abrasive yet vigorous momentum.
Hamburg’s Holger Breuer, whose eclectic yet ingenious affinity for melodic and nuance electronic music paved way for Torture the Artist’s distinctive style has been the backbone and mastermind of Torture the Artist since its foundation. On November 17th, he lends his tasteful feel for music to his adept fingers, and teams up with longtime friends in curating a unique musical journey for music connaisseurs and the curious alike.
After an up close and all too personal bout with Torture the Artist via Holger, Hamburg native Habitat brings the lineup home and packs the layers of sounds, melodies and dances in, wrapping up a night where music takes precedence and simply makes sense of things, just by dancing the dance.
