Sawf, ANFS, Tcherneyan, Eleusinia Mysteria
For the 3rd edition of Corner, we have the pleasure to host the Athens based label, Vanila Records.
Sister label to Modal Analysis and run by ANFS, Vanila's purpose is to explore the relationship between sound, blasphemy and anomaly. The releases from Sawf, ANFS, Morah and Expropriation capture perfectly the wide range of their production skills and the sound of a newly shaped scene in the Greek capital.

Sawf started experimenting with electronic music production and digital mixing in early 2000 before he released his first album on Perc Trax in 2011. His sound has been a defining and integral part of the thriving electronic scene in Athens, releasing on Athens-based labels such as Modal Analysis, Vanila, Pi Electronics, Phormix, and his own imprint Kafta. The influences of Detroit Electro and electronic body music are easily recognised in Sawf’s signature techno style that harks back to early UK UK industrialists such as Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle. Mysterious DJ and producer, his sets are known to be full of energy, with a raw industrial noise and breath-taking bass-lines.
ANFS is also based in Athens. Alongside fellow friends Kondaktor and 3.14, he co-founded the record label “Modal Analysis”, and later on 2015 he launched his own personal imprint, “Vanila”. Both platforms work as a self-referential point as well as an archive that documents the current electronic scene of Greece. He will play for us an exceptional live characterized by low frequencies, industrial soundscapes and hard-hitting drums.
Jerome Tcherneyan is a French musician/producer/DJ born in Marseilles. He lives in London and has been drumming, producing electronic music and DJing for the past 20 years.
His first solo release, 'Paradox,' came out on vinyl in 2001 under the nom-de-plume Risky Music; built around repetitive beats and drones which have been part of his work ever since.
Jerome is also part of Years of Denial, the alter-face of himself and Czech performance artist/DJ Barkosina Hanusova. With the use of hardware combined with vocals and a plethora of dub devices, YOD are re-visiting the dark corner of Post Punk, Industrial music movement and rave culture.
Eleusιnia Mysteria were spiritual/psychedelic rites that used to take place every year in the ancient Greek city of Eleusis to honour the goddess Demetra and her daughter Persephone.
This particular project is the aural representation of the artist’s perception of the rites and often consists of raw distorted drums accompanied by shadowy atmospheres, drones and industrial sound effects with a hint of psychedelia.
Eleusinian Mysteries showcased in numerous London nights such as Kaos events with An-I, Kareem, Kerridge and Choronzon - BLANC with Years of Denial, Flaminia, End Train and Polanski's Tanzfield with Arnaud Le Texier. He also played very often in Athens - Thessaloniki and other Greek cities to name a few.
