I LOVE ACID
Founded in 2007, I Love Acid started off as a one-off party with Luke Vibert (named after his iconic track) and grew into a vinyl record label & monthly London club residency, and then spread outwards to cities across the UK and Europe. In 2017, a new residency was founded at Hidden, Manchester - arguably the city that is the birthplace of UK acid house. This is the third party, after previous visits by Luke Vibert, Ceephax, Terry Farley, Altern 8, Dixon Avenue Basement Jams & more - all hosted by Jon Dasilva and Posthuman.
Australian, but now London based Tristan Hallis shot to fame when his 2016 anthem 'Winona' went stratospheric. Known for his acid-tinged lo-fi house output on E-Beamz, Lost Palms and Let's Play House, but also a burgeoning reputation with some real crate-digging DJ excursions into house, disco and electro.
Bossman at Berlin's Klasse Recordings (which he co-founded with Mr. Ho in 2010) and it's subsidiaries Zodiac 44 & Graffiti Tapes, Luca Lozano has established himself not only as an in-demand DJ and producer (releasing on Super Rhythm Trax, Sex Tags UFO, Crème Organization, Hypercolour and more) but also a killer graphic designer - his artwork adoring 12"s and flyers across Europe.
Part of the Phantom Planet Outlaws (along with Mark Forshaw, also playing this party) and the man behind Head Front Panel and Tabernacle Records, Merseysider Heckle has built a fearsome reputation DJing and playing live over the last few years, plus a huge catalogue of 12" releases on the likes of Chiwax, 030303, Crème Organization, Mathematics, M>O>S, Lunar Disko and loads more. This is his third appearance at I Love Acid, but his first for our Manchester parties.
Resident DJ at Sankeys and Tribal Sessions, Jozef K has recently stepped out from behind the decks and into the studio, with a slew of releases already out on Skint, Let's Play House, Acid Test and more, and most recently an upcoming EP on Waze & Odyssey's Street Tracks. He joins us for his debut I Love Acid show on the back of a tour DJing across China - and will also be playing at the instore official warmup party at Eastern Bloc Records
Also known as Casio Royale, Mark returns to I Love Acid after his first show for us at Bangface Weekend 2017 - alongside that he has an upcoming 12" on our label. A regular collaborator with John Heckle, Mark first caught our attention with some wicked 12"s on Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, Berceuse Heroique, and Computer Controlled Records - his track "Magnetic Highway" was actually the closing track in Posthuman's set at Hidden last year!
Member of Gescom, and Autechre's regular tour DJ - Mancunian Rob Hall has been cutting his own way through the underground for three decades. Part of the original Skam Records crew, Rob has been a no-bullshit selector of the weirder side of the dancefloor and returns to I Love Acid after an absence of a few years - though his mixes for NTS radio have been on regular rotation for us. He'll be opening the basement and is very much worth getting down early to check.
Residents & hosts for the night:
JON DASILVA & POSTHUMAN
A bonafide Acid House Legend, Jon Dasilva was resident at The Haçienda during the glory years of UK House music: 1988-1992. Posthuman were founded in Manchester in the late 90's with their debut release on Skam, and are label owners and founders of I Love Acid.
Together, the two are hosts and residents of the Manchester series of parties at Hidden, and have also joined forces for a special "This Is Acid - History of Acid House set" that showcases acid house from it's beginnings in early 1980's Chicago right through to modern underground 303 cuts.
Posthuman will also be playing the Eastern Bloc Records instore pre-party.
Please note, this event has a 10pm start (earlier than Hidden's usual 11pm door)
