Walter Sobcek are a French duo from Paris.
Since 2010, Walter Sobcek have been generating serious blog heat around the world thanks to a handful of beautifully constructed remixes. This mix work includes Oh Yeah! by Kitsuné's newest signings Housse De Racket, My Name Is Trouble by Keren Ann, 1901 by Phoenix, Sweet Carrie by Nightwaves for Binary Entertainment and You Can Dance by Chilly Gonzales, which picked up support from BBC Radio One's Annie Mac, Rob Da Bank and RCRD LBL.
Their debut single Je me souviens was released in September last year, building further blog hype, but also brought them mainstream exposure in their native France thanks to picking up heavy rotation on national TV channel W9.
End of 2011, Walter Sobcek are released Miami, their second single, on Schmooze (the label home to Chilly Gonzales and Housse de Racket). Miami was recorded and mixed with the help of producer Samy Osta (Chromeo, Cocosuma, La Femme, Rover). The single package includes 3 remixes of Miami by Muffin, Pharao Black Magic and Kido Yoji, plus bonus track Hollywood Cries.
Miami was featured throughout french opinion leader blogs to fashion and arts press like WAD. The videoclip was broadcasted on M6,MCM Pop and MTV Pulse. In 2012, their cover of the Hall and Oates classic “She´s Gone” was picked by Les Inrockuptibles (France´s top pop culture magazine) to feature on their covers compilation with among other Hot Chip, Brigitte and José Gonzalès.
Walter Sobcek is currently working on the production of their first LP with Samy Osta and Lifelike as part of the team. More collaborations are on the way.
