  • DJ Sprinkles, AKA Terre Thaemlitz, AKA K-She, is one of the most fascinating figures in contemporary electronic music. The latest project, under the Thaemlitz name, is Soulnessless, and it's the world's first "full-length mp3 album." It consists of more than 30 hours of music and video, and is "both an attempt to explore the unprecedented recording lengths offered by the MP3 format, as well as an act of resistance to online distributorships." (It's available as a Class 4 MicroSDHC Card.) As Sprinkles, Thaemlitz takes to the dance floor with an equally critical eye. The acclaimed 2009 release, Midtown 120 Blues, was RA's #1 album of the year, and tore down the illusion that the NYC deep house scene of the '90s was all "life, love, happiness." In short, Thaemlitz is an artist with something to say, which is why we decided to sit down at the 2012 Communikey Festival as part of our ongoing series of live RA Exchanges at events around the world.
