- Gerd Janson is a man of many trades: at various times over the course of his career, he's been a music journalist, a top-flight DJ and the proprietor of one of dance music's best labels. Whatever hat he's wearing, though, it's always in the service of a deep-seeded love for club music and the culture surrounding it. Even as his profile has risen over the last few years, he continues to bring that passion to Running Back's releases, DJ sets and productions with his group Tuff City Kids. Based outside of Frankfurt, Janson swings through Berlin often to play, and on a recent jaunt, we had him by our office to talk about writing, reissues and the funny name he almost gave Running Back.
