  • New Order is...well... they're New Order. One of the most popular synth pop bands of all-time, the group is an enormous influence on electronic music as we know it today. "Blue Monday" is still the biggest-selling independent 12-inch in the UK, and the rest of their discography is littered with hits that have moved dance floors and soundtracked lives around the world. Put simply, the highs have been high. And, at times, the road has been tumultuous as well. These days the band no longer tours with bassist Peter Hook. Tom Chapman has taken his place. Second guitarist Phil Cunningham—who joined the band in place of Gillian Gilbert—now plays alongside Gilbert, who recently re-joined New Order. Stephen Morris and, of course, singer Bernard Sumner remain. We caught up with the reconstituted group as part of our ongoing Live RA Exchange series at this year's Sonar festival in Barcelona.
