JASK (Soulfuric/Large/Thaisoul/FL)
With more than over 2 decades of djing experience under his belt, Jask has touched the world dance community with his unique blend of deep, melodic, jazzphonic and soulful sounds. In '87 Jask began djing at the age of 13. Influences consisted of soul, jazz, funk, r&b, hip hop, rock, new wave, disco, early electro & freestyle. A year later he would soon discover and quickly embrace a passion for th...e music that was coming out of Chicago & New York, known as the underground house sound. Jask was one of the major players to introduce the acid jazz sound to Tampa & most of central Florida in the early 90's. He held Tampa's longest running eclectic loungin' night called, "Martini Jazz". It took place every Thursday night at a club called the Castle which ran from '94 to '96. The "Martini Jazz" night brought some notoriety to Jask, which eventually led him to assist in the promotions of "Groove Collective's (NYC) first ever performance in the Tampa area. In December of 1995, Jask started Tampa's first weekly soulful underground house night called, "Jacks House". During its successful over a decade ongoing run, Jask has played alongside various talented djs such as: Mark Farina, Dj Disciple, Benji Candelario, Marques Wyatt, Doug Smith, Brian Tappert , Miguel Migs, King Britt, Tedd Patterson, Tommy Musto, Kaskade, Pete Moss, David Harness, Rasoul, Julius Papp, Matthias Heibronn, Jay-J, Little Louie Vega, Frankie Feliciano, Karizma, Mark Grant, Johnny Fiasco, Diz, Collete, Heather, Tortured Soul, Cevin Fisher, Harry Choo Choo Romero, Cajmere, Lisa Shaw, JJK and many other luminaries in the dance music industry...As of Today, Jask still holds down Jack's House(Tuesdays) and a new night called, "Paradise" which has become the new Underground house night in the Tampa area and features guest djs from all around the globe.
Unique in his own way, Jask brings an Asiatic essence that emanates patience and the Far East ideals of love and togetherness. With Jask's contributions to music, he hopes to effect people in the most positive ways of life.
Deejaysoul (ADG)
deejaysoul is a Brooklyn native with roots in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. He grew up listening to Salsa, Merengue, Disco, Funk and Soul. He was influenced by Park Jams and Mix show DJs of the early 80s, such as Chuck Chillout, Red Alert, Mr. Magic, X-Men DJ Crew, and Grand Master Flash. As his music interest grew, that list was expanded to DJs, such as Lil Louie Vega, Frankie Bones, DJ Charlie Casanova, Carl Cox, Todd Terry and Frankie Knuckles.
House Spinners (Mus and BlaqJeff, ADG)
Spinners weave yarn into tapestries. They take one element and create a story. While bleeps and bloops individually are single elements, woven together they create a sonic fabric and a tradition that tells the story of dance. Using a palette that spans almost thirty years collectively, the House Spinners create memorable tapestries of sound. Spinners also predict things to come – using this mode of storytelling to introduce new ideas and thoughts for the tribe. Re-interpreting our past and informing our future is no easy task. It is this mission that makes the House Spinners a unique addition to the electronic dance music scene. Consistently curious, the House Spinners are not afraid to weave boldness with emotion, hot with cold, driven and dropped, minimal and complex. Using the medium of house music, the House Spinners weave a good story – take a listen, it could be yours.
DJ T-Mic (ADG)
From the first time he heard the sounds of a radio in his hospital incubator, DJ TMIC knew that music would be an important part of his life journey. An accomplished jazz guitarist and graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, TMIC turned to the wheels of steel in college where his exposure to hip hop and electronic music naturally led to DJing. His first foray into the DJ art form came in 2005 when TMIC worked at the famed Bush Radio in Cape Town acquiring an appreciation for the city’s diverse hip hop, deep house and Kwaito scene. With the help of fellow DJs Cristina DiGiacomo and MisterBside, TMIC founded the Astoria DJ Group (ADG) in March 2009 which has grown to be NYC’s largest underground DJ collective dedicated to supporting the community and art form.
TMIC has dropped the needle at locations throughout NYC including Affaire Lounge, Kush Lounge, RSVP Lounge, UC Lounge, Hachi, Nana, Moomia Lounge (closed), DiWine and LIC Bar.
